Beauty Products I Currently Love!

Seriously this is a before and after shot. I have been using John Frieda Go Blonder for about two weeks, almost every day. I am blown away! I never thought I would get so much blonder! I am super excited to not have to get my roots touched up as often.

I didn't use any other product to lighten my hair other than Go Blonder. What a difference! I am not a natural blond either I just had highlights. If you want to go lighter for summer this is well worth using! Purchased at CVS.

I am loving Mac Fast Response eye cream. I like the texture, very light and absorbs well. I have noticed the dark circles getting lighter and the skin around my eyes is very soft. By far my favorite eye cream! Purchased at my local Mac store in Macys.

Elf Eyelid Primer. The best part about this product is...... it's only $1 at Target! It works just as well as other primers and is really a steal. Love it!

NARS color stick in Orgasm. LOVE! This product was rather pricy but I think it is well worth the cost. I can imagine it lasting forever! It is a lovely peachy color with just a small amount of gold shimmer. You can wear it on your eyes, cheeks, and lips. I really want another one to keep in my purse. So Fantastic! I purchased this from Sephora online.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, basically a miracle for zits. The BEST overnight spot treatment I have ever tried. I have tried dozens! Just a dab on top of the blemish at night and in the morning it will either be gone or half the size. Most of the time mine will be gone. Seriously if you get breakouts buy this! I purchased this at Ulta beauty store.

what i wore... (budget) summer trend edition and how to wear them!!

As I get older I am finding myself getting more interested in style trends. What does not interest me? Is spending a ton of money trying to keep up with them!

Here are some trends that you can try on a budget or even free! I think we all have at least some of these items already in our closets or beauty bag. It is all about re-working them into your summer wardrobe and making a trend fit your existing style.

Colored Jeans

Huge this past fall and winter. Still a big trend for summer! I found a pair of bright pink jeans at my local Goodwill but they were not quite my favorite color. So I bought a box of Rit dye and dyed them a beautiful scarlet red. The total cost was under $10 for the jeans and the dye. Be creative and always think outside the box! Forever 21, Old Navy and retailers like Ross or TJ Maxx are all inexpensive places to buy trendy items like colored jeans, because lets be honest who knows how long a trend will last!

Top Macys, colored jeans Anthro (not budget friendly, but a must have!) , boots local store.

Maxi dresses and skirts

I am so happy that maxi's are still here. By far my favorite trend ever! They are as comfortable as Pj's and they are easy to dress up or down. If you go buy one thing for your summer wardrobe buy a maxi! You don't need to shell out a ton of dough either, maxi dresses and skirts were very big in the late 80's and 90's so you might have good luck finding them at thrift stores for a bargain.
If you wear a top over a maxi dress it gives the appearance of a skirt giving you more style options from your maxi.

Chambray top thrifted, maxi skirt TJ Maxx, sandals Disneyland, sunnies online store.

Neon

This trend might sound scary but when you include it into your style it can look not only chic, but fun too. The goal is NOT to look like a glow stick! I find adding subtle touches to your style are the remedy for that. Think nail polish, scarves or a cardigan (see pic below) you can wear with a ton of different outfits. Not only subtle but very budget friendly too! Just make sure when you wear a neon piece to keep the rest of your outfit relatively neutral, see pic below.

Top Ella Moss thrifted, neon cardigan thrifted, J Crew shorts thrifted, leopard belt Target, wedges Maureces.

High Waisted Skirts and Shorts

I love the look of high waisted skirts but I have yet to find high waisted shorts I like on myself. But I will keep my eyes open, I would really like a pair.
The most flattering way to wear a high waisted skirt is to wear it on the very smallest part of your waist. I love to belting my skirts too. Adding some cute belts can really revamp your wardrobe for very little cash. I like to buy mine at Forever 21, TJ Maxx and the thrift store of course.

Top thrifted, skirt F21, belt F21, heals thrifted.

Metallics

Add some metallic bracelets or nail polish to you outfit. I like metallic nail polish because it goes with everything!
Plus I think we all have a metallic color in our nail kits already , don't we?

Slow Cooker Mexican Shredded Chicken

This is so simple you can hardly call it a recipe. It's easy, quick and yummy. I make this on busy weeknights when I have only a few minutes to get dinner on the table. I use this chicken for burritos, tacos, quesadillas and nachos but sometimes I just serve it on rice with a simple salad on the side. It is very versatile.

2 lbs of chicken thighs or breasts (I prefer thighs)

1 cup of your favorite salsa

2 cloves of garlic (optional)

I added one bell pepper (optional) because thats what I had in my fridge.

Salt and Pepper

Simply dump all ingredients into slow cooker and cook on high for 3 hours. Remove from slow cooker
and shred with a fork and add back in juice (the salsa turns into a yummy juicy sauce) to your liking
I told you it was easy!

What are your go-to busy week night dinners? Or any favorite slow cooker recipes?

Please do share!

How to refashion jeans into skinnies.

I have learned to embrace the skinny jean. It only took me a few years! And in fact with the right top they can be quite flattering on most body types.

I found these Seven for all Mankind jeans at the Goodwill Outlets store for $2, (whoo hoo) retail price $150!

Only one problem.....

Yeah, what a shame right?
But I knew I could refashion them and since they were far to long for me I could make them work. So here is how I refashioned them into skinny jeans.

I tried them on inside out and I pinned down the inside seam (CAREFULLY) tapering down to the bottom hem.

Then I (CAREFULLY) took them off and adjusted the pins into a nice line.

Next I sewed them from crotch to hem, tapering down the leg.

Cut excess fabric.

Hem them to the length you perfer. I wanted the option to roll up the bottoms for summer, so mine hit my ankle.

What do you think? This only took me 20 minutes in all!

Have a great weekend!
