Tulle and Sateen Flower Tutorial

For this project I used sateen fabric, tulle, felt, glue gun, a pin, and a hair clip.

Cut a round out of felt.

Make a flower template out of paper.

Cut a bunch of flowers. I just cut the tulle in round pieces.

Put a tiny drop of glue in the center of the flower and pinch like so.

Then glue onto the felt round starting in the middle.

Alternate the tulle with the sateen. I used more sateen then tulle for mine.

Glue and fill in all the bare places till you get a full flower. You can trim any rogue pieces with scissors.

I glued on a pin and clip.

What I wore wedding edition...

Sorry I was not on top of pictures this week. It has been cold and rainy the past few days and sweats are looking really good right now. Next week I will do better..... Promise!

Dress and sweater from Macys, sandals Nordstroms, belt F21 and necklace consignment store.

I let them get this out their system so we can actually take a nice picture.

I had to capture this on camera because the boys are clean and dressed up for once. Caleb (the big one) is wearing a thrifted tie and shirt, jeans Khols. Deacon (the little one) shirt local boutique sale and shorts?

White Chocolate Truffle Brownie Pops

Make brownie mix as directed and undercook slightly. I love Trader Joe's truffle brownie mix. Put half a bag of white chocolate chips into a glass bowl and microwave. Make sure to stir every 15 seconds till melted or it might harden on you.

I used a cookie spoon to scoop out my brownies but you could even use melon baller.

I dipped the sticks in the chocolate before I stabbed them into the brownie balls otherwise they would just fall off.

You will have to really squeeze them onto the stick.
Use a spoon to cover the tops in chocolate and sprinkle with sugar.

Let cool and enjoy!
I think these would be precious for a baby shower with pink or blue sugar.

A Mantle Makeover

Before..... Bor-ing!

After! Much more summer looking I think. Everything was made by myself or thrifted. See the lovely green candle holder on the left? Check out post, "A Fun Little Project" in the February archives to see how I gave it some TLC.

Want to see how I made the mossy letter mirror? Check out post, "Mossy Letter Mirror DIY" in the June archives.

Aren't these little vases adorable? They were from Restoration Hardware and I bought them at  Goodwill for $2!

Remember these beautiful pheasants? Check out post, "For The Birds" in the April archives to see how I gave them a makeover.

With a little thrift hunting and some DIY you can decorate your house on the cheep and people will think it cost you a fortune.

summer flowers and old mason jars

I was shopping at Goodwill this morning (surprise, surprise) and I came across this old mason jar. I loved the color so I bought it. For now it will hold flowers from the yard, but maybe I can come up with a crafty way to use it. Leave me a comment below if you have any ideas!

Anthropologie Bobby Pin Tutorial

Make yourself a round piece of fabric. I used a cup as my template.

Sew around the outer edges.

No need for perfection here.

Then pull the string tight till it looks like this. Then tie to secure.

Glue a round piece of felt on the back of the gathered fabric and use another round of felt to sandwich the bobby pin between. It will not stick on the bobby pin alone.

Here is what it should look like.

Glue a jewel or button in the middle of the fabric round.

Ta DA!

Super cute right?

Want a great tip for buying buttons and jewels? It is much cheaper to buy a top with some cute buttons or embellishments on it from the thrift store or even garage sales than to buy them from the craft store. Same goes for fabric, I often cut up used clothing and reuse it for projects like this.
