Rocking leg-warmers!

My sister put in a special request on how to wear leg-warmers. They seem to be really trendy this winter but I have always had a love for them. What can I say I am an 80's child.

Remember my DIY cashmere leg-warmers post? I am wearing those here.

Here is how I rock my leg warmers.

Skinny jeans and lace up boots.
Just got these boots at GW (Goodwill) for $8 today!! I have been wanting lace up boots forever! Aren't they cute?

Booties and leggings.
I like to keep in the same color palate as the booties because I am not that brave with fashion!

And my personal favorite, with tall boots and tucked in skinny pants.
I aways go with skinny pants when I wear boots to avoid bunching at the knees.

I hope that was helpful.

Now rock those leg-warmers like an 80's rock star!

DIY Monogramed Hurricane Vase

I printed out a font that was about 6 in tall on computer paper. Then I traced the letter onto an adhesive stencil sheet.  Next I cut it out.

This stuff is awesome! I would wear gloves though. My skin is still pealing!

I applied the stencil on the vase and painted on a thick layer of etching cream. It is supposed to cure for 5 minutes but I recommend letting it sit a bit longer.

Wash with soap and water.

How pretty would these be with lemons or candles in them!

I am totally obsessed with monograms and I think they make wonderful personalized gifts for all occasions.

I made three vases for both my sisters and mother in law for Christmas and filled them with candy.

Homemade Granola for Christmas Gifts

I thought homemade granola would make a good gift for teachers and neighbors. Jar, label, granola, fabric and ribbon, sweet and simple.

This is my sister Carley's recipe and it is DELISH!

1 C melted butter
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 C honey
1 1/2 C brown sugar
2 Tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp sea salt
6-8 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 c oat or wheat bran
1 1/2 c sunflower seeds
1 1/2 c coconut (flake unsweetened)
2 c each : walnuts, almonds and raisins (add raisins after baked)

Mix first 6 ingredients over the stove until they become like a syrup. Mix remaining dry ingredients (except raisins) in a BIG bowl, add wet and mix. Bake at 250 for 1 hr stirring every 15 minutes. Add raisins when cool. I used cranberries and almonds. This will make 16 cups.

DIY Spiced Honey Face Mask

My skin is suffering this winter. It's extremely dry, which is not typical of my skin. This mask is really helping. It brightens, exfoliates, moisturizes, smoothes, and restores your skin. Your skin will be so soft! Plus its very inexpensive and smells devine.

3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon nutmeg
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon

Mix well. Apply on a washed face. This will be enough for a few masks so store it in a jar with a lid. It should last for a few weeks. Let it sit on your skin for 30 minutes. Wash with luke warm water and rub your skin lightly in small circles, the nutmeg will act as an exfoliant. Use a moisturizer after to help lock in more moisture. I recommend using this mask up to three days a week, especially if your skin is dry like mine.

It smells so yummy you will want to eat your face!

nutmeg is good for eczima and rosacea. It has anti-inflamitory properties

Honey is good for everything! Hair, skin and of course to eat. It is a natural anti-oxident. It protects and rejuvenates. It also locks moisture into the skin.

Cinnamon is a natural exfoliant. It has been used an anti-oxident, anti-fungal and many other things.

Crafting Scrabble Tile Ornaments

I got my tiles from a Scrabble game at the Goodwill. But you can get them on eBay for very inexpensive.

I hot glue the tiles on a piece of cardboard that is slightly smaller than the tiles.

Then I hot glue a loop of twine on the back side.

You can even cover it with another piece of cardboard on the back but it's not necessary.

I hot glued some tulle tied in a bow on the top of the tiles.

How cute are these little guys? And they only took a few minutes to make, my kind of craft!
